Our adventure begins at the tranquil shores of Buttermere, where the soft morning light reflects off the still waters, creating stunning mirror images of the surrounding peaks. This peaceful scene is ideal for wide-angle shots that beautifully frame the harmony of land, water, and sky. From there, we’ll explore the rugged terrain around Derwentwater, where the interplay of light and clouds offers the perfect opportunity to experiment with long-exposure photography. Capture the gentle motion of water and the shifting skies to create ethereal, dreamlike landscapes.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to Catbells, a scenic ridge that offers sweeping panoramic views over the surrounding hills and valleys. As the golden hour light bathes the lands-cape in a warm glow, you’ll learn how to use natural light to highlight the contours of the land, creating powerful compositions rich in depth and texture.
On the second day, we begin with a sunrise shoot at Catbells, capturing the first light of dawn as it bathes Derwentwater in hues of pink and gold. We then venture deeper into Borrowdale Valley, where ancient woodlands, moss-covered rocks, and cascading rivers provide endless opportunities for creative compositions. Finally, our journey concludes at Surprise View, a stunning vantage point offering breathtaking vistas of the Lake District’s most iconic landscapes.

On the first day, you'll arrive at our base in the Lake District, check into your accommodation, and join a welcome session to meet the rest of the group and get an introduction to the workshop. In the afternoon, we’ll take a short hike to Orrest Head, a well-known viewpoint with panoramic views of Lake Windermere. This session will focus on mastering composition basics and making the most of natural light to capture the beauty of the surroundings. As the evening approaches, we'll head to Ashness Bridge, a classic Lake District location that offers stunning views over Derwentwater and Skiddaw. You’ll learn to balance highlights and shadows to achieve perfect sunset shots.
Day two begins early as we head to Castlerigg Stone Circle for a sunrise shoot. You'll work on capturing the first light as it illu-minates this ancient site while focusing on using foreground elements to add depth to your images. Later in the morning, we’ll return to the accommodation for a post-processing session, where you'll learn landscape editing techniques to enhance the photos taken so far. After lunch, we’ll visit Grasmere and Rydal Water, two of the most scenic spots in the central Lake District. This session will explore techniques for shooting reflections, using ND filters, and capturing serene landscape views. We’ll head to Ullswater for a night photography session in the evening. You’ll practice long-exposure techniques to capture the stars over the lake, weather permitting.
On the third day, we’ll start with a sunrise shoot at Buttermere, known for its stunning views and the famous lone tree. This session will focus on framing and using symmetry to create impactful images. Mid-morning, we’ll gather for a group critique and review of the photos taken so far, providing personalised feedback to help you refine your techniques. In the afternoon, we’ll travel to Wast Water and Wasdale Valley, known for their dramatic landscapes and rugged beauty. You'll learn how to convey mood and atmosphere in your images, with practical guidance on using graduated filters to balance exposure. The day will conclude with a sunset shoot at Great Langdale, capturing the warm light on the fells and the dramatic skies above.
The final day will begin with a relaxed morning shoot at Tarn Hows, one of the Lake District’s most picturesque tarns. We’ll focus on capturing tranquil scenes, experimenting with different focal lengths to find unique perspectives. Afterwards, we’ll visit Hawkshead, a charming village with a rich history, for a street photography session to challenge you to tell stories through your images. After lunch, we’ll return to the accommodation for a final group critique, a discussion on your progress over the workshop, and a Q&A session to address any further questions. By late afternoon, it will be time to say goodbye, with participants departing with a wealth of new skills and a stunning collection of Lake District images.
